Genetic linkage map construction and identification of QTLs associated with agronomic traits in bambara groundnut ( <i>Vigna subterranea</i> (L.) Verdc.) using DArTseq‐based SNP markers

Bambara groundnut [Vigna subterranea (L.) Verdc.] is an underutilised, protein-rich and self-pollinating legume that can withstand high temperature drought stress mainly grown in semi-arid Africa. In order to dissect the complexity of resistance use genomic tools for yield enhancement bambara response stress, yield-related morphological traits under drought-stressed (DS) well-watered (WW) conditions were evaluated F3 F4 segregating generations derived from a cross between two genotypes selected landraces S19-3 (originally Namibia) DodR Tanzania). Significant quantitative trait loci (QTLs) shoot dry weight (SDW) mapped on LG10 accounting 15.5% phenotypic variation explanation (PVE) putative locus (QTL) same with reduced PVE (10.10%) population. QTLs associated number seeds per plant (NS), double-seeded pods (NDP), seed (SW) pod (PW) LG4 (nearest marker: 4181663 4175954) overlapping confidence intervals explained 21.9%, 21.8%, 23.5% 19.9% PVE, respectively, population, which could be considered as major QTL involved control these traits. Seven consensus LG2, LG3, LG4, LG7A LG10. The study provides fundamental knowledge groundnut, also essential improvement stress.
